Kats move up WAC performance lists

COLLEGE STATION — The Sam Houston track and field teams posted some of the best marks in the WAC outdoor season at Texas A&M's Alumni Muster on Saturday.

Freshman Jackeria Woodkins moved to the top of the WAC TFRRS performance list in the 400-meter run. She was third in College Station with a time of 53.78 seconds.

The men's 4x100 relay team also climbed to first in the WAC with a time of 39.62 seconds.

Senior Clayton Fritsch already owns the top pole vault in not only the WAC but the country this season. He did, however, set a new meet and facility record Saturday with a jump of 18 feet, 10 ¼ inches.

Freshman Rajer Gurode had the third-best time in the women's 100-meter dash at 11.49 seconds. She now has the second-fastest time in the WAC this season only behind Taylor Tolen of Abilene Christian who ran it in 11.42 seconds on Thursday.

Gurode was also sixth in the 200-meter run as she turned in the fourth-best time in the WAC at 23.74.

Junior Haviland Harris now stands second in the WAC in the 400-meter hurdles with the third-best time at the Alumni Muster at 59.33. She also is fourth in the 100-meter hurdles after crossing the finish line in 13.71 seconds which was the fifth best Saturday.

Senior Joe Austin III came close to topping Grand Canyon's Jacob Lewis's top mark of 1:49.86 in the 800 meters. He finished third at the Alumni Muster with a time of 1:49.86.

Freshman Anivea Gilbert ran the 100 in 11.70 which now has her in a tie for the sixth-fastest time in the WAC. The women's 4x400 relay team turned in a time of 3:43.54 which is now fifth.

Junior Eric Callaway ran the fifth-best 200 meters in the WAC with a time of 21.11. Senior Andrew Bosquez ran the 1,500 meters in a time of 3:48.28 to move into fourth in the league
