Soccer releases 2022 season

HUNTSVILLE – The Sam Houston soccer team released its schedule for the 2022 season on Thursday with eight matches set to be played in Huntsville, including five WAC matches as the Bearkats enter their first season under new head coach Sonia Curvelo.

The Kats went 6-4 in conference play last season to finish third in the Southwest Division and made the WAC Tournament. This season, the WAC will not be split into divisions.

Single-game tickets for Bearkat Soccer will be available near the beginning of the season and will be able to be purchased at GoBearkats.com or by calling the Bearkat Ticket Office.

Sam Houston will open the season with an exhibition in Frisco against Texas A&M-Commerce on Aug. 11 before taking the field for the first official matches on the road at McNeese (Aug. 19) and Texas A&M (Aug. 25).

The Bearkats then play five consecutive home games beginning with Houston Baptist on Sept. 4. SHSU will host Louisiana Tech on Sept. 6, Seattle on Sept. 16 and Utah Valley on Sept. 18.

The Kats will travel to Stephen F. Austin on Sept. 23 and UTRGV on Sept. 25 before hosting Abilene Christian on Sept. 30 and Tarleton on Oct. 2. It's back on the road for matches at Utah Tech on Oct. 7 and Southern Utah on Oct. 9.

The final home game will be against New Mexico State on Oct. 15 before matches at California Baptist on Oct. 27 and Grand Canyon on Oct. 29 close out the regular season.

The WAC Tournament will be held Nov. 2-6 in Seattle.
