STILLWATER, Okla. — Oklahoma State was hot from 3-point range in an 85-70 victory over Sam Houston in non-conference action at the Gallagher-Iba Arena on Sunday.
The Bearkats (1-2) stayed with the Cowboys (1-1) for most of the game. They were only down 51-46 with just over 12 minutes to go when
Kian Scroggins knocked down one of 10 3-pointers Sam Houston made and
Marcus Boykin hit a jumper.
Oklahoma State kept hitting shots from downtown as well and pushed the lead back to 12 at the 7:58 mark of the fourth quarter. The Kats never got the lead down to single digits the rest of the way.
The Cowboys managed to connect on 17 of 33 shots from long range and hit 47 percent of their total shot attempts.
Davon Barnes led Sam Houston with 16 points, while Boykin scored a season-high 11. Scroggins and Soulemayne Doumbia each finished with nine points.
The Kats will face another Power 5 program when they head to Oxford, Mississippi to play Ole Miss on Friday at 7 p.m.
