HUNTSVILLE — The Sam Houston women's soccer team has added a goalkeeper with experience for the 2024 season, head coach Sonia Curvelo announced.
Cassia Souza from Richmond, California has transferred to play for the Bearkats. She was previously at UC Riverside were she was a three-year captain and started 19 matches last season.
"We look forward to having Cassia with us," Curvelo said. "She has tremendous experience at the Division l level and is a leader on the field. She has captained her previous team and has the mentality of wanting to compete and win a championship. She has one year of eligibility left so I know that she will do everything she can to help our program win its first championship. Her passion for the game will only help improve the players around her."
Souza played in 38 matches for the Highlanders. She was named to the Big West All-Academic team and was the vice president of the UC Riverside Student-Athlete Advisory Committee.
She played at DeAnza High School and played club soccer for Diablo FC and Marin FC.
