Batista named WAC Player of the Week

ARLINGTON — Sam Houston forward Madelyn Batista has been named the Western Athletic Conference Women's Basketball Player of the Week.

Batista had a solid week as the Bearkats picked up road wins at Seattle U and California Baptist to move into fourth place in the WAC standings. She posted back-to-back double-doubles which brings her total four this season, including three in a row.

She had 21 points and 13 rebounds in a 67-60 win over the Redhawks on Feb.2, and she posted 15 points and 14 rebounds in a 66-62 victory against the Lancers. For the week, Batista averaged 18 points and 13.5 rebounds per game.
