Kats close out Baylor Tournament

WACO — Sam Houston closed out the Baylor Tournament with a pair of close losses to a pair of top 25 teams on Sunday.
A day after beating No. 25 Texas A&M 4-0, the Aggies were the ones to come away with a 4-0 win on Sunday. No. 21 Baylor was able to defeat the Bearkats (8-13) 6-1.
Sam Houston will host Lamar on Wednesday at the Bearkat Softball Complex at 6:30 p.m.
No. 25 Texas A&M 4, Sam Houston 0
Texas A&M scored a run in the first inning which would ultimately prove to be enough in a 4-0 victory over Sam Houston.
The Aggies scored again in the fifth and added a pair of insurance runs in the sixth to top the Bearkats.
Starting pitcher Regan Dunn allowed seven hits in sixth innings but did not get any offensive support. Sam Houston managed just three hits coming from Ellie Grill, Brodie Quinlan and Haleigh Carter.

A five-run second inning proved to be the difference as Baylor handed Sam Houston a 6-1 loss in the tournament finale on Sunday.
The Bears scored the runs on three doubles, a single and a walk off starter Mika Vento. Emma Guindon came on in relief and allowed only one run in 4 1/3 innings off five hits.
The Bearkats' lone run came in the top of the sixth inning. Ellie Grill singled to second base and advanced to third on a wild pitch to eventually score on a fielder's choice by Kylie Bishop.
