ARLINGTON — The Sam Houston tennis team lost to UT Arlington 7-0 on Friday at the UTA Tennis Center.

The Bearkats fell to 5-11 over all and 2-5 in Western Athletic Conference play. UTA improved to 16-3 and 7-1.

Sam Houston just missed out on winning the doubles point. Tara Gorinsek and Ana Jimenez edged Paula Cerda and Sahithi Vutukuru 7-6 (7-2), and Bruna Casasampere and Francisca Vergara eased past Aaliyah Hohmann and Anastasia Khokhlova 7-5.

Khokhlova came close to winning her No. 2 singles match. She lost to Gorinesk 4-6, 6-2, 1-0 (13-11).

The Bearkats will wrap up the regular season Sunday at UTRGV ay 9 a.m.
