Kat volleyball releases 2023 schedule

HUNTSVILLE — As Sam Houston heads into its inaugural season in Conference USA, Bearkat volleyball coach Brenda Gray announced the schedule for the upcoming 2023 season on Monday.
Gray, who is entering her 40th season as head coach, has the Kats set to open the regular season in a traditional way with the 45th Bearkat Invitational (August 25-26) which will feature a round-robin format with Nicholls, Oral Roberts, Portland and Texas A&M-Corpus Christi.

The Kats will also head to tournaments at Tulane (Sept. 1-3), McNeese (Sept. 8-9) and Stephen F. Austin (Sept 14-16) before opening C-USA play on Sept. 22-23 at Jacksonville State. Sam Houston closes out the first month of the season with a home series Sept. 29-30 against Florida International at Johnson Coliseum.
"Our program is excited to embark on Conference USA," Gray said. "We put together a competitive non-conference schedule to prepare our players for conference and look forward to keeping our rivalry with SFA alive during the preseason."

The Bearkats will host Louisiana Tech Oct. 3-4 then hit the road to face Middle Tennessee on Oct. 7-8. UTEP comes to Huntsville on Oct. 13-14 followed by road games at Western Kentucky Oct. 20-21.

Liberty will come to Johnson Coliseum for a pair of games on Oct. 27-28 before the Bearkats close out the regular season with matches at New Mexico State on Nov. 3-4.

The C-USA Tournament is set for November 16-18 in Lynchburg, Virginia.
