HUNTSVILLE– The Sam Houston women's basketball team will return home to host Middle Tennessee on Saturday at Johnson Coliseum.
Sam Houston (5-9, 0-2) is coming off a 76-60 loss against Western Kentucky on Wednesday. The Bearkats picked up their second loss in Conference USA play as the Lady Toppers took the reins offensively. Raanee Smith lead the team in scoring with 12 points and was just shy of a double-double with nine rebounds. Shanti Henry and Diana Rosenthal added 10 each in the loss.
The Bearkats are returning to Johnson Coliseum where they are 4-3 as they start their three-game homestand.
Series vs the Lady Raiders
This will be the first all-time meeting between the Bearkats and the Lady Raiders.
A Look At The Season To Date
It's been a balanced offensive effort for the Kats so far this year with the team's leading scorer being Diana Rosenthal with an average of 12.2 points per game. However, balance has been the name of the game with five different players leading the team in scoring over the last 14 games.
Chair of the Boards
Smith is leading CUSA with 9.9 rebounds per game but is also second in the nation with 5.6 offensive rebounds per contest. Smith has reached six double-doubles this season with her last coming in a La Tech loss with 11 points and 11 rebounds. Of her 130 total rebounds this year, 73 have come on the offensive glass, highlighted by 16 offensive rebounds in the Kats' win over Texas College.

Raanee Smith is second in the country for offensive rebounds at 5.6 per game. Sam Houston is leading the country in free throws attempted (26.79) and free throws made (17.79).
So Far in Conference Play
Sam Houston opened conference play on the road where they added two losses. In the conference opener the Bearkats had a 66-62 loss at La Tech where Diana Rosenthal put up 17 points. The Bearkats are coming off a 76-60 loss against the Lady Toppers on Wednesday.
