Bearkats sweep the Bulldogs

RUSTON, La. – The Sam Houston volleyball team picked up another victory on the road in a mid-week Conference USA matchup against Louisiana Tech on Wednesday.    Â
The Bearkats (9-8, 4-2) leave Louisiana with sweep over the Bulldogs with 3-1 for the second day in a row. Sam Houston secured the win by winning the final three sets 21-25, 27-25, 25-22 and 25-22. Â
The Bulldogs took the lead early, winning the opening set 21-25. Sam Houston rallied back in the second set forcing extra points to tie it on the way to a 27-25 win.Â
Louisiana Tech led set two until the Bearkats rallied to tie it at 20 with back-to-back kills by Alyssa Fielder. Sam Houston went on to win the third set 25-22 after trailing by as many as eight points. Â
The Bearkats were able to finish it off to win it in four. Â
Fielder led the match with 16 kills and Michaela Panekova was close behind with 13. Avery Fowler had 41 assists on the night, leading the match. Â
The Bearkats will return home to host NM State for a weekend matchup on Saturday and Sunday. Both matches will be aired on ESPN+. Â
