Souza wins final CUSA weekly award

DALLAS — Sam Houston senior Cassia Souza helped the Bearkats lockdown a top four seed in the Conference USA postseason tournament, and she was honored by the league for her performance in the regular season finale.
Souza posted a clean sheet as the Bearkats knocked off Western Kentucky 1-0 last week on the way to earning the final CUSA Goalkeeper of the Week award. The victory sent Sam Houston into the conference tournament on a winning note as the Kats prepare to square off with the top six teams in the league for the right to represent CUSA in the NCAA Tournament.
Souza faced only two shots on goal against the Hilltoppers, who finished with 13 total shots. Souza saved both attempts to post her third shutout of the season.
