HUNTSVILLE – The Sam Houston volleyball team was swept by WKU on Saturday at Johnson Coliseum in the final home match of the 2024 season.
The Bearkats (13-14, 8-8 CUSA) struggled to gain control early on against the league-leading Hilltoppers, with set scores of 25-11, 25-18, and 25-20.
The Toppers took control early, nearly holding the Kats in single digits in a 25-11 first set. Sam Houston managed an early 3-0 run in the second set but couldn't capitalize, falling 25-18.
Despite a late rally in the third set, WKU ultimately pulled away, sealing the match with a 25-20 victory.
Lylah Washington led the Bearkats with eight kills, while Alyssa Fielder added seven. Avery Fowler contributed 18 assists and two blocks. Hannah Baker also added a team-high 16 digs.
Sam Houston will wrap up its Conference USA regular season at FIU on Friday and Saturday, with both matches airing on ESPN+.
