
Kats sign six to the 2025 roster

HUNTSVILLE– The Sam Houston volleyball program and head coach Brenda Gray announced the signing of six student-athletes to play for the Bearkats for the 2025 season.Â
The signing class consists of outside hitters Isabella Mae Wood and Cloe Monson; middle blockers A'Miyrie Anderson and Ava Kostroun; setter Carleigh Schluter; and libero Avery Pruitt.Â

A'Miyrie Anderson / MB/RS/ Cypress, Tx/ Cypress Ranch Â
Anderson is a three-time district champion and two-time area champion, earning first-team honors and a spot on the Clear Creek Varsity All-Tournament Team. In travel ball, she double qualified for the 2024 USA Division Nationals and took first place in the Liberty Division in 2023. An Honor Roll student, she is set to graduate with her associate of science degree along with her high school diploma. Â

" I chose to be a part of Sam Houston volleyball because I love the structure within the program and the expectations for players to be respectful and have manners. That reminds me of home. Also, everybody that I met when I have been on campus was super nice and welcoming. Isabella Mae Wood / OH / Frisco / Wakeland High School Â
Wood is a multi-sport athlete and leader, earning academic all-district honors in both volleyball and softball while serving as captain of her volleyball team. A four-year letterwinner in softball, she also competes for Drive Nation VBC, where she has been a team captain and earned All-Tournament honors at the West Coast Cup.Â

"Bella is coming off a victory in the 5A Division II State Volleyball Championship and will enroll early to kick off her Bearkat career this spring. A highly skilled outside hitter, Bella is intrinsically driven and a fierce competitor. We are thrilled she chose to enroll early, allowing her to acclimate to our system and the weight room right away."Â

Carleigh Schluter / S / Spring / Concordia Lutheran High School Â
Schluter is a four-year varsity letterwinner and 2024 team captain, earning numerous accolades throughout her career. Her honors include TAPPS All-State honorable mention and TAPPS District 4 second team All-District in 2023 and District 15-6A honorable mention in 2022. She helped lead Concordia Lutheran High School to the TAPPS Final Four in 2023 and was recognized with the Heart of the Team Award that same year. Â
A standout club player, Schluter has been named a PrepDig Top Performer twice and appeared on the AVCA Phenom List from 2021-23. She also earned a spot on the AVCA All-American List in 2024 and 2025 while serving as team captain. Additionally, she competed in the USAV GJNC in both 2021 and 2022.Â

Chloe Monson / OH / San Antonio / Pieper High School Â
Close Monson is an accomplished student-athlete, excelling both academically and on the court. A member of the National Honor Society, she has been named academic all-district for three consecutive years and ranks in the top 2 percent of her class. Athletically, she is a two-time first team all-district selection for 26-5A, earning Most Valuable Player honors her junior year. She was also recognized as her team's MVP and Most Reliable Teammate during her sophomore and junior seasons. Â
A milestone achiever, Monson has recorded 1,000 kills and 500 digs in her career. In club play, she earned All-Tournament honors at the GJNC during her 15s year and has served as team captain.Â

"Chloe capped her high school career as the district MVP. She's smooth, powerful and reliable in serve receive, with the ability to swing effectively from all zones of the net. Chloe's fearless approach and knack for delivering big swings in critical moments make her a great fit for the outside hitter position."Â

Ava Kostroun / MB / Georgetown / Liberty Hill High School Â
Kostroun has excelled both academically and athletically throughout her career. A member of the National Honor Society, she earned academic all-district honors in 2022 and 2023. On the court, she was named Blocker of the Year and earned all-district second team honors in 2022 before being selected to the first team in 2023. She also made the Westwood All-Tournament Team and reached 200 career blocks in 2024. In club volleyball, she competed at Nationals in both 2022 and 2023. Â

Avery Pruitt / DS/L / Fulshear / Fulshear High School Â
Pruitt has earned numerous accolades throughout her volleyball career. She was named Defensive Player of the Year for Houston Skyline's 12 Royal team in 2018 and again for the 15 Black team in 2021. Her club achievements include a third-place finish at Lone Star Regionals in 2019 with 13 Royal and competing in the 13s National Division at GJNC the same year. She was featured on the AVCA Phenom Watch List in 2021, 2022, and 2023. In 2022, she earned Offensive Player of the Year honors with 18 Adidas-Texas Legacy, and in 2023, she was named Most Valuable Player of 17 Elite-Texas Legacy. Additionally, she was a first team all-district selection in 2023.Â
