HUMBLE — The Sam Houston men's golf team could not keep pace with Texas Tech in the final round of the All-American Intercollegiate at the Golf Club of Houston on Tuesday.

The Bearkats closed with a 5-over 293 for a 54-hole total of 9-over 873 to place second. The Red Raiders rallied with a 1-under 287 Tuesday to steal the title from Sam Houston with a three-round total of 7-over 871.

Texas State finished third (874) followed by UNLV (875), Houston (876), Kansas (881), Iowa (883), Baylor (884), Iowa State (887) and Yale (888).

Bret Gray just missed out on winning the individual championship. He lost in a playoff after tying for first place at 5-under 211 with Yuki Moriyama of UNLV.

Ting-Wei Hsieh tied for 12^th at 1-over 217 after closing with a 2-over 74. Josh German finished in a tie for 18^th at 3-over 219 with an even-par round to close out the event.

Hugo Trommetter tied for 53^rd with a 54-hole total of 10-over 226, and Gene Chaikangwal tied for 85^th at 18-over 234.
