HUNTSVILLE — Sam Houston head coach Chris Mudge has brought in another transfer to give the team scoring depth for the 2024-25 season.
Â
Brennen Burns, a 5-10 guard from Southeastern Oklahoma, will join a Bearkat roster that returns six players off last season's Conference USA regular season championship team. He averaged 16.4 points per game and 6.9 assists, which ranked second in the country, in the Great American Conference.
Â
"Brennen is a very talented point guard who can fill up a stat sheet," Mudge said. "He averaged around 17 points and seven assists last season on a highly successful, well-coached team. When he played the best teams, Brennen usually had his best performances which will translate very well to Conference USA success.
Â
"His skill set, toughness and high basketball IQ will immediately make an impact on our program."
Â
Burns earned first-team All-Great American Conference honors last season. He also ranked fifth in the league in shooting percentage at 56.8.
