Kats head back on the road

HUNTSVILLE — The Sam Houston Volleyball team will head to San Antonio to take part in the UTSA Roadrunner Classic this weekend at the Convocation Center. Â
This will be the second road trip of the season for the Bearkats as they prepare to face Alabama, Central Arkansas and UTSA. Sam Houston is coming off a 2-1 showing at the Oral Roberts tournament last weekend. Â
Avery Fowler and Michaela Panekova made the all-tournament team as the Kats earned wins against Oral Roberts and Bethune-Cookman. Fowler, a junior from Oak Ridge, had 111 assists and 43 digs on the weekend while Panekova, a senior from Slovakia, had 31 kills and five service aces. Â
The Bearkats are 3-1 all-time against the Crimson Tide with the last matchup ending in a 1-3 loss for the Kats on Sep. 3, 2023. Against Central Arkansas, the Kats are 7-14 all-time with the last meeting ending in a 3-1 victory on Apr. 2, 2021. Â
Sam Houston has had some success against host UTSA. The Kats lead the series 29-25 against their former Southland Conference rivals with the last meeting ending in 3-2 victory in 2019. Â
