Jin named CUSA Female Golfer of the Week

DALLAS – Following her win at the Remax Prime Properties Bearkat Invitational, Sam Houston sophomore Grace Jin has been named the Conference USA Female Golfer of the Week, the league announced on Wednesday.Â
It is Jin's first such honor and the first by a Bearkat in 2024-25. The nod adds to a scorching 2024 calendar year for Jin, who hit the course with the team during midseason a year ago. Â
She not only claimed the Texas Amateur title and advanced in the US Women's Amateur during her time on the summer circuit, but opened the 2024-25 season with an individual win at the Badger Invitational in Wisconsin before following it up with this week's win in Huntsville.Â
Jin found herself tied with teammate Amelia Guo after Day 1 of the Bearkat Invitational after each shot matching rounds of 69 in the first two rounds; however, Jin closed with four birdies in a span of five holes on the back nine of Tuesday's final round to shoot 66 and take the individual crown by five shots.Â
She and the rest of the Bearkats will next compete on the road October 14-15 when they head to Broken Arrow, Okla., for the Dale MacNamara Invitational. The event is hosted by the University of Tulsa and will be held at Cedar Ridge Golf Club.
