DALLAS - Sam Houston's Pureun Kim was named CUSA Women's Golfer of the Week on Wednesday after helping the Bearkats capture the team title at the Diamante Intercollegiate.Â
The sophomore from Berlin, Germany, finished tied atop the leaderboard through 54 holes at 8-under 208, carding rounds of 66-70-72 at Diamante Country Club in Hot Springs Village, Ark.Â
Kim opened the tournament with a career-best 6-under 66, recording four birdies and an eagle on the par-5 11th hole to take the individual lead. Her performance helped Sam Houston post a 15-under 273 and build an eight-stroke advantage after the opening round.Â
She followed with a 2-under 70 on Monday, highlighted by five birdies on her front nine, before closing with an even-par 72.Â
Sam Houston finished at 15-under 849, eight strokes ahead of runner-up California Baptist in the 20-team field. The victory capped the Bearkats' fall schedule.Â
Kim joins Isabelle Hurrion among Sam Houston's CUSA weekly honorees this fall after Hurrion earned the award September 30 following her individual win at the Red Raider Invitational in Lubbock.Â
The Bearkats will now be off until Feb. 1-2 when it hosts The Battle at Bentwater at Bentwater Country Club in Montgomery to open the Spring half of the season. It is the first of consecutive hosting tournaments for the Kats, also hosting the Texas Golf Throwdown a week later in The Woodlands.
