
Kats finish eighth at Oklahoma Intercollegiate

WICHITA, Kan. — Sam Houston finished eighth at the University of Oklahoma Intercollegiate Tuesday at Wichita Country Club, posting an 874 (+22) through three rounds.
The Bearkats opened the tournament with a 296 before improving to a 282 in the second round. Sam Houston closed with a 296 in the final round to finish eighth among 11 teams.
Isabelle Hurrion paced the Bearkats individually, finishing tied for ninth with a 212 (-1). Hurrion carded rounds of 70 (-1), 67 (-4) and 75 (+4), highlighted by her second-round 67.
Pureun Kim finished tied for 26th at 217 (+4), recording rounds of 74 (+3), 72 (+1) and 71 (E).
Amelia Guo finished tied for 42nd with a 222 (+9), improving in the final round with a 70 (-1). Bomyeong Lee finished tied for 56th at 226 (+13), while Vicky Renzi placed 62nd with a 233 (+20).
Competing as an individual, Brooke Frerichs finished tied for 40th at 221 (+8).
Sam Houston finished ahead of Oral Roberts, UTRGV and Toledo in the team standings. Oklahoma claimed the team title with an 839 (-13), followed by Missouri at 841 (-11) and Santa Clara at 850 (-2).
The Bearkats return to action Oct. 18 at the Diamante Intercollegiate, hosted by Little Rock at Diamante Country Club in Hot Springs, Arkansas. The three-day tournament runs through Oct. 20.
