Panekova named CUSA Player of the Week

DALLAS – Sam Houston middle blocker Michaela Panekova has been named the Conference USA Offensive Player of the Week, the league announced on Monday.  Â
Panekova, a sophomore from Bratislava, Slovakia, earned her first weekly honor since the program joined CUSA for the 2023 season. Â Â

She was a force in victories over Middle Tennessee as the Kats went 2-0 on the weekend. She recorded 27 kills and four aces over seven sets.Â
The Bearkats will head to UTEP looking to keep their winning streak alive. Sam Houston rolls into El Paso having already surpassed last season's conference win total. Â
Both matches will air on ESPN+, with Friday's match starting at 7 p.m. and Saturday's at 1 p.m.Â
