Kats embark on first road trip

HUNTSVILLE — The Sam Houston Volleyball team will head to Tulsa to take part in the Oral Roberts Tournament on Friday and Saturday at Mabee Center. Â
This will be the first road trip of the season for the Bearkats as they prepare to face Oral Roberts, Tulsa and Bethune-Cookman. Sam Houston hosted a tournament featuring Prairie View, UIW and SFA and went 1-2.Â
Avery Fowler made the all-tournament team last weekend. The junior from Oak Ridge had 80 assists and 24 digs on the weekend. Â
The Bearkats are 8-5 all-time against the Golden Eagles with the last matchup ending in a 3-1 victory for the Kats on Aug. 28, 2023. Against Tulsa, the Kats are 2-4 all-time with the last meeting ending in a 3-2 loss on Sept. 16, 2023. Â
Sam Houston has had some success against Bethune-Cookman. The Kats lead the series 2-0 against the Wildcats with the last meeting ending in sweep in 2018. Â
