HUNTSVILLE – The Sam Houston women's tennis team posted victories in 11 of its 12 singles matches and six of nine doubles encounters to dominate former Southland Conference foes Stephen F. Austin, Northwestern State and Lamar in the annual Bearkat Invitational Fall Tournament this past weekend at the Chuck and Wanda Beckner Tennis Center.

"Our young ladies competed so well this weekend," Bearkat head coach Rob Hubbard said. "They've been working hard  and have shown much improvement in both singles and doubles."

The event represented the fourth event of Sam Houston's fall schedule of five tournaments. The Kats finish out the fall with a trip to San Marcos for the Texas State Bobcat Invitational November 1-2. Sam Houston's first three fall events included the Rice Invitational in Houston, the ACU Invitational in Abilene and the ITA Regionals hosted by TCU in Fort Worth.

Ella Fitcher, Iza Garza, Christine Jevicky, Adithi Venkata Krishnan, Anamaria Kurtsikashvilli, Sara Sadadinovic, Nayuma Subba each posted singles victories. Each of the Kats' three doubles duos also put a pair of victories on the board.

"Each member of the team has been working hard in practice," Hubbard said. "I really liked the way they competed this weekend against longtime rivals from our Southland days."
