RUSTON, La. — The Louisiana Tech Bulldogs rushed for 425 yards and picked up a 55-14 win over Sam Houston on Friday night at Joe Aillet Stadium.
Elijah Green reached the end zone twice in the third quarter, finishing with 191 yards on the ground, but the night belonged to the Bulldogs (5-3, 3-2 CUSA) who had a pair of 100-yard rushers of their own en route to getting their first win over the Kats (0-8, 0-5 CUSA) since SHSU joined CUSA.
The Bulldogs scored twice in the first quarter and never looked back, rolling up a season-best 646 yards of total offense behind 221 passing yards from quarterback Blake Baker and a combined 279 yards on the ground from running backs Clay Thevenin and Omiri Wiggins.
Sam Houston got their first stop of the game late in the second quarter on an interception by Alonzo Edwards Jr. and followed that early in the third quarter when Trey Harris forced and recovered a fumble. That set the Kats up in good field position and Green cashed in on a 28-yard touchdown run that made it a 27-7 game at the time.
Green later added an 80-yard touchdown burst in the third quarter and a 45-yarder in the fourth to aid his big night.
