
Kats drop close match at Delaware

HUNTSVILLE — Sam Houston went toe to toe with the Delaware Blue Hens, pushing them to five sets, before suffering a hard-fought setback at the Bob Carpenter Center Friday night.  Â

The Bearkats (10-18, 2-13 CUSA) traded sets with the Blue Hens (8-16, 5-10 CUSA) and pulled ahead in the third 25-22. Sam Houston led the fourth but were forced to a deuce, eventually falling 26-24. Â

The fifth set came down to the wire as the Kats rallied back only to fall short with a final score of 15-13. Â Â

Freshman Chloe Monson led the match in kills with 29 for a new season high. Avery Fowler also led the match in assists with 54, a career best. Shaelin White defended the back line for the Kats with 23 digs. Â

Sam Houston will wrap up the 2025 season at Bob Carpenter Center on Saturday at 12 p.m.Â
