HUNTSVILLE – The Sam Houston women's basketball team will look to make it back-to-back wins when it returns to Bernard G. Johnson Coliseum on Monday to host Prairie View.
Tipoff for the game is set for 6:30 p.m. and will air on ESPN+ with Matt Pedersen and Leah Vann on the call courtside.
The game can also be heard online on the Bearkat Sports Network and the Bearkat Athletics app with Stephanie Keele moving behind the mic for the Kats for the 2025-26 season.
KATS TO PLAY HOST TO JUSTICE'S FORMER TEAM
- Ravon Justice will battle her former program for the first time on Monday when the Kats host Prairie View at Johnson Coliseum. Justice broke into the head coaching realm with 2 years as the head coach at Prairie View before coming to Sam Houston for the 2018-19 season. She was 28-34 at PV, including going 12-6 in the SWAC in 2017-18
- Justice became the third Bearkat head coach in program history to win 100 games at Sam Houston, joining Rebecca Bilsing and Brenda Nichols with the Kats' win on Wednesday at Arkansas-Pine Bluff
- Fanta Kone filled up the stat sheet once again in the win at UAPB, setting a new career high with 18 points in the win over the Lions. More impressive, though, was her defense as she finished with 12 steals, setting a new Sam Houston and CUSA single-game record. It is the second-highest single-game steal total in the nation this season, trailing only Notre Dame's Hannah Hidalgo who had 16 steals in a win over Akron
- Despite Ravon Justice having close ties to the SWAC from her 2-year stint at Prairie View prior to coming to Sam Houston, the Bearkats had not played a SWAC opponent for each of her first 4 years at the helm of the Bearkat program. However, this season marks the fourth straight year with a SWAC opponent on the schedule with Justice being 4-0 against her former league in that time. This is the first time since the 2017-18 season the Kats have battled multiple SWAC opponents in the same season
- Pop Inmon got her offense going against UAPB, pumping in a game-high 21 points, just off her career high of 24 set vs NM State a year ago. She and Kone are the only 2 Kats to have reached double figures in scoring multiple times thru 3 games of this season
