KATS HIT TRAIL FOR OREGON FOR FINAL NON-CONFERENCE GAME OF 2025
- The Kats are coming off their second-highest offensive output in the last four seasons, putting up 503 yards of offense against LA Tech last week in Ruston. It was the most since SHSU had 517 yards of offense against UTEP in 2024. Prior to that, SHSU had not eclipsed 500 yards of offense since 2021

- The bulk of that came on the ground with 296 total rushing yards, led by a breakout game from running back Elijah Green. The transfer with experience from both North Carolina and Indiana rushed the ball just 10 times but finished with a career-high 191 yards and a pair of touchdowns. It was the most rushing yards for a Kat since Zach Hrbacek had 203 yards on the ground at Tarleton in 2022

Hunter Watson  finished with 258 yards of offense against the Bulldogs and now needs just 77 rushing yards and 81 passing yards to join Jared Johnson and Brian Bell as the only quarterbacks in Bearkat history with 3,000 career passing and 1,000 career rushing yards

- Watson's favorite target has been wide receiver Chris Reed, who has started each of the last three games on the outside for the Kats. In those 3 games he has hauled in 12 passes for 193 yards and a pair of touchdowns. The 193 yards in just a 3-game span is enough to lead the Kats in receiving yards for the entire season

- Sam Houston will be trying to avoid starting 0-9 for the first time in program history. The Kats have had as many as nine losses in a season five times previously, the last coming in 2003. SHSU is joined by UMass as the only two teams remaining in the FBS still searching for a victory

SAM HOUSTON vs THE BEAVERS
- Saturday will mark the first-ever meeting between the Bearkats and Beavers

- This is the front end of a home-and-home series between the schools with Oregon State currently scheduled to return the game with a trip to Bowers Stadium on Sept 6, 2031

- This will mark the first time the Bearkats have ever squared off with a member of the Pac 12 Conference

- Despite the geographic difference, this is not the first time OSU and SHSU have crossed paths athletically in recent years. In fact, the Bearkat men's basketball team is scheduled to travel to Corvallis on Dec 17 for its first-ever meeting with the Beavers, and the Bearkat baseball team met OSU twice in the 2023 Baton Rouge Regional

- In all, OSU and SHSU have met five total times athletically with other meetings coming in softball (1996) and volleyball (1994, 1996)
