Bangkok, Thailand — Sam Houston standout Noey Sarntong helped her national team claim a medal at the 33rd SEA Games, hosted by the Thai Bowling Federation recently.
Sarntong rose to the challenge when the Thailand Women's National Team fought its way into third position, with only the top four teams advancing to medal contention. With three remaining games on the long pattern portion of the competition, the the team was in strong position to medal.
Despite a slow start that saw Thailand slip to the edge of the cut line in fourth place, the team refused to back down. A strong fifth set kept hope alive, but with just one game remaining, Thailand trailed by 79 pins as rival nations continued to post impressive scores.
The Thai National Team found its rhythm in the ninth frame and carried that momentum into a dramatic 10th. The competition came down to the anchors — each nation knowing that the first to strike twice would secure a place on the medal podium.
That moment belonged to Sarntong. Showing remarkable composure and championship poise, she delivered a clutch swisher strike followed by a flush strike — two perfect shots under maximum pressure — to lock in the medal round up.
Sarntong's doubles in the 10th frame completed a stunning comeback victory by just 15 pins, officially securing a medal for Thailand.
This medal represents a historic milestone. It marks the first-ever Adult Women's Team Medal at the SEA Games for this newly formed Thai women's squad, achieved on home soil and on one of the region's biggest sporting stages.
