Ogayemi named CUSA Player of the Week

DALLAS – Sam Houston redshirt junior Deborah Ogayemi received Conference USA women's basketball Player of the Week, the league announced on Monday.
This is the first time the Bearkats have had a student-athlete receive the weekly award since joining the league in 2023. Ogayemi played a pivotal role in Sam Houston's 2-0 week in Conference USA play after completing season series sweep of Jax State on Thursday and posting the program's first win against Kennesaw State.
Ogayemi was the team's leading scorer in both games, averaging 18.0 points. She posted a career-high 19 points in the win over Jax State and followed it up with a solid 17-point performance against the Owls.
She is the only active Bearkat currently averaging double-digit points (12.0 ) this season. In addition to her scoring, she contributed to the team's overall success with 12 rebounds and five steals across the two games.
The Bearkats will host WKU and Middle Tennessee this week at Johnson Coliseum.
