Kats in eighth at Lewis Flyer Classic

LOCKPORT, Ill. — Sam Houston picked up four more wins to move up one spot in the standings following day two at the Lewis Flyer Classic on Saturday at the Strike N' Spare II.

The Bearkats went 4-1 again to improve to 8-2 with 10,138 total pins, which has them in eighth place. Sam Houston is 171 pins outside of the top five behind leader Jax State, Wichita State, North Carolina A&T, Youngstown State, Nebraska, Vanderbilt and Maryville are ahead of the Kats heading into the final day.
Katie Paris had a big day for the Kats. She was fourth in the individual standings with a 222.20 average and a high game of 248.
"Overall today was a better four wins than yesterday," head coach Brad Hagen said. "The energy was better, and we did a way better job of managing the lanes as well as our reactions so not to get blinded. In any precision sport you have too many variables you can't control so it's important to control what you can, when, and where you can. Our focus is to get as many wins out of this trip as possible, and we have a great opportunity (Sunday) to get what we need."
The Bearkats will face Maryville in the bracket portion of the competition on Sunday.
