NACOGDOCHES — The Sam Houston softball team kept SFA scoreless in 8-0 victory on Wednesday at SFA Softball Field. Â
The Bearkats (14-15, 3-3 CUSA) put together a five-run third inning to take down the Lumberjacks in the midweek matchup. Â
Elia Hebel wasted no time, launching the first pitch she saw for a solo home run in the first inning. Morgan Holliday brought home Bella Perez with a hard-hit ball to shortstop for an RBI single in the second to push the lead to 2-0.Â
Brodie Quinlan got the third-inning rally started with a solo shot of her own. Perez followed with a two-run double as the Kats heated up at the plate.Â
Allie Saville launched an RBI double to left-center and later scored on a throwing error to push the lead to 7-0.Â
Hebel brought home Kinsey Hobbs with an RBI single for what would be the final run in the sixth. Â
Starting pitcher Kendall Daniel went the distance in the circle, tossing a six-inning shutout while allowing five hits with six strikeouts to earn the win.Â
Sam Houston will host a CUSA series against Kennesaw State this weekend. First pitch is set for 6 p.m. Friday, with live stats available on StatBroadcast.Â
