Aggies top Bearkats for CUSA series win

LAS CRUCES, N.M. — A five run fifth inning proved to be the turning point in 8-0 walk-off loss on Saturday at NM State Softball Complex. Â
The Bearkats (17-18, 6-5 CUSA) fell in six innings after a two-run home run to walk it off. Â
The Aggies scored the first run of the game in the third and extended their lead with five runs in the bottom of the fifth for a 6-0 lead. NM State was able to put the run-rule into effect thanks to the game-winning shot that went over the center field wall. Â
Kendall Daniel (5-4) received the loss after allowing six runs on nine hits. She pitched five innings, walked three and struck out one. Â
Abigail Young came in on relief in the bottom of the sixth. She collected two runs on two hits, pitching 2/3 innings. Â
Three Bearkats recorded hits including a double by Bella Perez. Â
The Bearkats will close out the series on Sunday with first pitch set for 12 p.m. The game can be followed on StatBroadcast.Â
