HUNTSVILLE – Kennesaw State led wire-to-wire in a 10-0 win over Sam Houston on Saturday at Don Sanders Stadium, clinching the series over the Bearkats with one game remaining.
The Owls (15-19, 6-5 CUSA) scored in each of the first four innings and seven innings overall while holding the Kats (8-27, 2-9 CUSA) to just four hits for the second straight game.
Sam Houston starter Ryan Peterson struck out six and allowed just four hits, but was hampered by four free passes and was touched up for five runs in 4.0 innings, taking the loss to fall to 1-7 on the year.
On the other side, Owl starter Harry Cain no-hit the Kats until a single from Ty Marthiljohni to lead off the fourth. He went on to last 7.0 shutout innings with a career-high nine strikeouts to earn his second win of the year before handing it to Halton Hardy for the final two frames.
