
Kats beef up roster by signing 6-4 guard

HUNTSVILLE — The Sam Houston men's basketball team continues to add experience talent with the recent signing of an all-conference transfer from North Carolina Central for the 2025-26 season, head coach Chris Mudge announced Wednesday.

Po'Boigh King, a 6-4 guard from Roanoke Rapids, N.C., is joining the Bearkats after a second-team All-MEAC campaign last season as a member of the Eagles. He started every game and averaged a team-leading 16.7 points per game to go along with 2.9 rebounds, 1.2 steals and 1.6 assists.

King shot 44 percent from the field, ninth best in the conference, and he was tabbed a BOXTOROW second team All-American. He scored a season-high 28 points at Gardner-Webb in December.

As a sophomore in 2023-24, King was a third-team All-MEAC honoree and earned MEAC Defensive and Offensive Player of the Week while averaging 14. 7 points and 4.7 rebounds per contest. He scored a career-high 34 points against Delaware State.
