AUSTIN - The No. 8 Texas Longhorns took control early and never looked back in a 55-0 win over Sam Houston on Saturday night at DKR Texas Memorial Stadium.
The Longhorns' (3-1) piled up 607 total yards, including 343 through the air and built up a 31-0 lead at the half before cruising to the finish line.
Quarterback Arch Manning turned in his best statistical game of the year, leading the Longhorn attack with 309 yards passing and accounting for five total touchdowns before being lifted midway through the third quarter.
Sam Houston was unable to get anything of significance going offensively against a stout Longhorn defense, not converting a first down until its final drive of the opening half. In all the Kats ended with just 113 total yards with 86 coming in the air.
Hunter Watson returned to the starting role at quarterback and completed 13 of his 25 passes for 86 yards and an interception, finding running back Landan Brown a team-best six times for 37 yards to lead the way.
Defensively, Antavious Fish led the way with eight total stops including a tackle for loss.
