NEWARK, Del. – The Sam Houston Bearkats outlasted Delaware in overtime, pulling away late for a 73-65 victory Saturday at the Bob Carpenter Center.Â
Sam Houston (10-4, 3-0 CUSA) pushed its winning streak to five in a row, despite trading leads throughout regulation with the Blue Hens (6-10, 0-4 CUSA). The Kats seized control in overtime with an 11-0 run sparked by Whitney Dunn. The win marked the Bearkats' first overtime victory since a 66-56 decision over NM State during the 2023–24 season.
Dunn led all scorers with a career-high 21 points, while Deborah Ogayemi added 18 points and 10 rebounds for her fifth double-double of the season and third in a row. Fanta Kone fueled the Bearkats on both ends, recording seven steals and logged her second double-double of the year with 14 points and 10 assists.
The Bearkats battled back from a 5-point deficit in the first quarter and saw the lead change 11 times, relying on their defensive pressure to create separation. Sam Houston forced 32 turnovers, converting them into 34 points while collecting 16 steals on the night.
