
Kats get decisive win over Jax State

HUNTSVILLE - Sam Houston snapped a two-game skid with a decisive 70–51 win over Jacksonville State on Thursday night at Johnson Coliseum.
Sam Houston (12–6, 5–2 CUSA) got off to a slow start as the Gamecocks (11–9, 5–3 CUSA) held a three-point lead in the first quarter. The Bearkats responded quickly, taking control before halftime and pulling away down the stretch.
Fanta Kone led Sam Houston with 16 points, while Nyla Inmon and Aysia Ward-Strong each recorded double-doubles. Inmon finished with 14 points and 11 rebounds for her second double-double of the season and first since the opener, while Ward-Strong added 14 points and 11 boards for her second consecutive double-double.
The Bearkats outscored Jacksonville State 23–11 in the second quarter and continued to dominate in the second half, winning it 27–17. Sam Houston forced 22 turnovers, converting them into 21 points, and tallied 15 steals, led by Inmon with four.
With the win, the Bearkats move into sole possession of third place in the Conference USA standings.
