HUNTSVILLE – The Sam Houston women's basketball team will hit the road Thursday to face the defending Conference USA champions, Liberty, at Liberty Arena.
Tipoff for the game is set for 4:00 p.m. CT and will air on ESPN+ with Corey Spector, Kelley Deyo, and Annie Cory on the call courtside.

KATS TO TAKE ON DEFENDING CUSA CHAMPS
- Sam Houston opened Conference USA play with a 67-64 road win over Louisiana Tech, securing its first-ever victory at Thomas Assembly Center
- The Kats' 8-4 mark is tied for its second-best 12-game start in program history, equaling its 8-4 start in 2019-20 and only bettered by a 10-2 start in 1987-88
- Fanta Kone led the Bearkats with 19 points, five assists and five rebounds. Deborah Ogayemi added a season-high 17 points and 10 rebounds to record her fourth double-double of the season, while Aysia Ward-Strong contributed a season-high 15 points and paced the defense with six steals.
- The Kats forced 25 turnovers that resulted in 30 points against the Lady Techsters. Sam Houston leads CUSA in forced turnovers and ranks second nationally at 28.08 per game. The Bearkats also moved up to 15th nationally in turnover margin at plus-9.08.
- Sam Houston leads CUSA in steals and ranks fifth nationally at 15.5 per game. Kone ranks 13th nationally with 3.58 steals per game, while Ogayemi and Ward-Strong are tied for 24th at 3.17.
