HUNTSVILLE — Sam Houston volleyball returns to Bernard G. Johnson Coliseum this weekend for a two-match Conference USA series against Delaware, looking to bounce back from a pair of losses to Missouri State.Â
The Bearkats enter the weekend with a 12-7 overall record and a 3-3 mark in conference play. Sam Houston dropped both matches against Missouri State last weekend, falling 3-1 Friday before losing in five sets Saturday.Â
The series also presents a milestone opportunity for head coach Brenda Gray, who is one victory away from reaching 800 career wins. Gray has led the Bearkats for more than four decades, building a lasting legacy with the program.Â
Sam Houston has recorded 932 kills and 866 assists through 19 matches while hitting .211 as a team. The Bearkats have also totaled 1,098 digs and 164 blocks, contributing on both sides of the net.Â
Outside hitter Chloe Monson leads the Bearkats offensively with 275 kills, averaging 3.87 kills per set. Chelsea Butler has added 149 kills while hitting .308, providing another consistent option in the attack. Brenlin Garlitz leads the team with 377 assists, while Shaelin White has contributed 110 assists. Defensively, Sam Houston will look to continue its strong blocking and back-row play to limit Delaware's scoring opportunities.Â
The two-match series begins Friday at 6 p.m. at Bernard G. Johnson Coliseum, with the teams meeting again Saturday at noon. Both matches can be followed on ESPN+.Â
