
Kats tied for 7th after 36 holes at Texas Golf Throwdown

THE WOODLANDS – Sam Houston's women's golf team remains in the hunt at the Texas Golf Throwdown, tied for seventh at 40-over par following 36 holes at The Woodlands Country Club.
The Bearkats opened the tournament at +24 before improving to +16 over the final 18 holes to finish the first 36 holes at +40.
Newcomer Isabell Hurrion led the Kats, carding an even-par opening round with one birdie and one bogey. Hurrion followed with a 4-over second round that included four birdies on the back nine and sits ninth individually.
Pureun Kim recorded three birdies in the first round to finish at +4 and sits 23rd at +8 while competing as an individual. Amelia Guo opened the day with a 79 that included three birdies and rebounded with a 76 in round two, adding two birdies to sit 33rd.
Francesca Sumcad opened play with a birdie on the 10th hole and carded an 84 before responding with a 74 in the second round, highlighted by two birdies on each nine. Bomyeong Lee posted rounds of 77 and 83 to sit at +16, while Victoria Renzi turned in rounds of 84 and 78 with a birdie in each round to finish the day at +18. Competing as an individual, Shanna Sandoval recorded rounds of 86 and 89.
The final round of the Texas Golf Throwdown tees off Tuesday at 1 p.m., with live scoring available on Scoreboard by Clippd.
