KATS LOOK TO SWEEP THE WEEK ON THE ROAD
- Sam Houston earned a 72–66 victory over Kennesaw State on Thursday to finish undefeated against the Owls this season.
- Â The Bearkats are tied with MTSU for second place in the standings, sitting four games behind LA Tech.
- Â Sam Houston leads Conference USA and ranks third nationally with 26.4 turnovers forced per game. The Bearkats have forced 20 or more turnovers in 23 of 24 games this season, with Rice being the lone exception.
-  Fanta Kone has recorded 110 assists this season and needs nine more steals to reach 90. No Bearkat has posted consecutive seasons with 100+ assists since Britni Martin (2011–12, 2012–13), and no Kat has recorded 90+ steals in back-to-back seasons since LaKeita Richardson (1993–94, 1994–95).
- Â The Bearkats had four players score in double figures against Kennesaw State, marking the sixth time this season they have accomplished the feat. Whitney Dunn led the team with a career-high 22 points, her second 20+ point performance of the season after scoring 21 in the overtime win against Delaware.
- Kone now ranks tenth in program history in career steals with 172, surpassing Khamra Echols (170 steals, 2008–12).
- The Bearkats are averaging 13.8 steals per game, ranking seventh nationally and leading Conference USA. That pace puts them on track to record the fourth-most steals in a single season in program history.
- With a win, the Bearkats would secure their fifth straight victory against Jax State. In the last meeting, Sam Houston earned a 70–51 win over the Gamecocks in Huntsville after defeating them in the first round of the 2025 Conference USA Tournament. Fanta Kone led the team with 16 points, while Nyla Inmon and Aysia Ward-Strong each recorded double-doubles with 14 points and 11 rebounds.
