The Sam Houston bowling team remains in front of the pack at the TNBA Open following day two of competition on Saturday.
The Bearkats went 5-0 again to move to 10-0 and now has 10,373 total pins. Jackson State is second with 9,673 pins and will meet Sam Houston in the first match of championship bracket play on Sunday.
Central Missouri is third followed by Oklahoma Christian, Tulane, Southern, Alabama State and Grambling.
"Today was a pretty special day and the timing couldn't be better," head coach Brad Hagen said. "Our goal this whole weekend was to celebrate every little thing we can and move on as quickly as possible if there's something that doesn't go our way and we did a great job of doing so."
"Shooting (+306) for the day was pretty exciting and one of our most successful Saturdays in a long while. The ladies need to keep knowing their worth and believing in their ability is a full time job, and we have the talent and depth to move mountains. We proved it in Lincoln we could compete with the top 10, and that's where we belong to be.
For the first time in program history, Sam Houston had three rollers sweep the top three places in the individual competition on Saturday and placed four in the top 10. Emily Hart came in first with a 227.80 average, Miya Greene was second with a 225.80 average and Breana Chewens was third with an average of 218.80 as all three earned all-tournament honors, Greene's third of the season. Jessica Sillis finished 10th with an average of 200.80.
