
Walker earns second straight weekly freshman honor

DALLAS — There aren't many players in the country as hot as Sam Houston guard Jacob Walker right now.
Walker continued to strive in a starting role for the Bearkats with a couple of 20-point scoring efforts to stretch the team's winning streak to five with a pair of victories over FIU and Missouri State over the weekend. His performances earned him his second CUSA Freshman of the Week award in a row on Monday and third this season.
The true freshman from Memphis, Tennessee was 6 for 9 from the field for 20 points in a 100-67 victory over FIU on Wednesday and had three rebounds. He followed that with a team-high 23 points on 8 for 13 shooting in an 87-81 win against Missouri State on Saturday.
For the week, Walker averaged 21.5 PPG and 2.0 rebounds while shooting 63.6 percent as Sam Houston remains in second place in the league.
