Kats finished tenth at Maridoe Collegiate

CARROLLTON, TX – The Sam Houston men's golf team finished 10th at the Maridoe Collegiate, hosted by North Texas at Maridoe Golf Club.
The Bearkats posted a final-round score of 28-over-par, bringing their three-day total to +59. Sam Houston finished ahead of UNCG, Louisiana Tech, and Boston College, while coming within four strokes of Mississippi State and five of Louisiana.
Grayson Petru led the Bearkats, tying for 22nd at 11-over-par with rounds of 80-76-71. He recorded two birdies in the opening round, one in the second, and surged with six birdies in the final round.
Alex Malanga placed 42nd at 17-over-par with rounds of 76-77-80, totaling four birdies across the tournament, including two on the first day.
Jackson Hymer finished 48th at 18-over-par (72-79-83), tallying four birdies in the opening round and one in the second. Sebastian May came in 50th with rounds of 78-73-84, recording two birdies in round one and three in round two. Caleb Lumpkin carded rounds of 76-79-82, posting one birdie in each round.
No. 7 Oklahoma State claimed the team title at 11-over-par, followed by No. 9 Arizona State at 29-over and Baylor at 33-over.
The Bearkats return to action April 13 at the Old Waverly Collegiate Championship in West Point, Mississippi, their final tournament before the CUSA Championships.
