DALLAS — Sam Houston sophomore Tiffany Sanchez was named Conference USA Pitcher of the Week, the league announced Monday, following a dominant performance in the Bearkats' conference series against Missouri State.

The right-hander from Del Valle High School pitched nine innings during the series and played a key role in Sam Houston's success against the Bears.

Sanchez highlighted the weekend with her sixth conference shutout of the season in the series opener. She threw a complete game, striking out nine batters to match her season high while allowing just two hits and issuing no walks.

She also appeared in the final two innings of the series finale, recording the save while allowing no hits, runs or walks.

Sanchez is the first Bearkat to earn a Conference USA weekly honor twice this season.
