Kats tied for third at CUSA Championships

FRISCO – The Sam Houston women's golf team tied for third with New Mexico State after carding a final round of 3-over par at the Conference USA Championships on Wednesday at Stonebriar Country Club.
The Bearkats finished the tournament at 23-over par, matching New Mexico State for third place behind back-to-back champion Western Kentucky (+13) and runner-up Delaware (+20).
Amelia Guo led the way for Sam Houston with a strong final round of 71, highlighted by four birdies, to finish tied for sixth at 5-over par. Guo posted rounds of 72-78-71, completing the remainder of her second round earlier in the day following weather delays.
Pureun Kim recorded a 2-over 74 in the final round, using a pair of back-nine birdies to secure a tie for 14th at 7-over par (73-76-74).
Isabelle Hurrion opened her round with a birdie and added another on the 11th hole to finish with a 75. She carded consistent rounds of 74-76-75 to place 21st at 9-over par.
Francesca Sumcad was the first Bearkat to finish and delivered one of the top rounds of the day, shooting a 1-under 71 with three birdies to tie for 26th at 10-over par.
Bomyeong Lee capped the tournament with a highlight, sinking a long birdie putt on the final hole. She added two more birdies on holes eight and 10 en route to a final-round 79, finishing at 12-over par (73-76-79).
The Bearkats wrap up their spring season with a strong showing and will return to competition in the fall for the 2026–27 campaign.
