BSN wins award for top live production

ATLANTA – For the first time, the Bearkat Sports Network has been given one of the industry's top honors, winning a College Sports Media Award at the Annual Sports Video Group College Summitt.
The production of the softball team's walk-off home run to beat Louisiana Tech and clinch a spot in the 2025 Conference USA Tournament was recognized as the Outstanding Live Game Production in the Collegiate Student – Championship Division.Â
The award was presented Wednesday night at the Atlanta Hilton Hotel and the show was hosted by ESPN's Ryan McGee. The Live Game Production Collegiate Student category was by far the largest of the night, with 17 entries recognized as finalists.Â
To be eligible for the Collegiate Student category, the production must be made up of at least 75 percent students. For this production, the crew was 100 percent student run and also included a student on air, as Katie Pena joined Jason Barfield on the broadcast making her ESPN on-air debut.
The BSN had previously earned a finalist nomination at the 2025 CSMA's in the Collegiate Athletic Division, but this was the first nomination and win in the Collegiate Student Division.     Â

Since its inception, the SVG College Sports Media Awards in association with NACDA have been recognized as the best in class in college sports video production. Once again, at this year's SVG College Summit, the Sports Video Group (SVG) and the National Association of Collegiate Directors of Athletics (NACDA) awarded the outstanding work in college sports video productions from campuses across the country, and the staff that makes them possible.
