Kats go 3-0 to Open Season

HUNTSVILLE – The Sam Houston volleyball team shut down the McNeese Cowgirls Saturday afternoon, 3-0, to claim the tournament title at the Bearkat Invitational tournament.Â
The win gives the Kats their first 3-0 start to a season since 2021, and the third since 2014.Â
Chloe Monson continues in the double digits with 14 kills and a .429 hitting percentage. Avery Pruitt led the Kats with a career high of four services aces including three straight to rally in the second set. Â
Rachelle Reed defended at the net with five blocks, heavily aiding the Bearkats defense alongside Shaelin White with 13 digs.Â
The Bearkats head up the road to Arlington to participate in the Maverick Classic facing off against Army, Kent State, and UT Arlington.Â
First serve is set for 10 a.m. September 4th against Army.Â
