STEPHENVILLE – The Sam Houston volleyball team swept Texas A&M-Corpus Christi 3-0 Friday afternoon at the Tarleton State Invitational.Â
The Bearkats opened the match with a 25-23 victory before taking the second set 25-21. Sam Houston closed out the sweep with a 25-19 win in the third set.Â
Chelsea Butler led the Bearkats with 13 kills while hitting .632. Chloe Monson added 11 kills, and Bella Wood finished with eight. Annika Brooks and Kameron Rector contributed six and five kills, respectively.Â
Brenlin Garlitz led the Sam Houston offense with 21 assists, while Lauren Pyle added 18. Shaelin White paced the defense with 15 digs, followed by Rector with 13 and Pyle with seven.Â
Rachelle Reed added four kills, five blocks and one ace, while Garlitz and Rector each recorded an ace.Â
Sam Houston hit .398 as a team and recorded 50 digs and 12 assisted blocks in the sweep.Â
The Bearkats will close out the Tarleton State Invitational Saturday against Denver.Â
