Kats reveal full 2026-27 men’s hoops schedule

HUNTSVILLE — Sam Houston men's basketball has announced its 2026-27 schedule, featuring a challenging non-conference slate highlighted by road trips to several marquee opponents before Conference USA play begins in late December.
The Bearkats open the season Nov. 3 at Alabama in Tuscaloosa before returning home for a three-game stretch at Johnson Coliseum. Sam Houston hosts Howard Payne on Nov. 7, Pepperdine on Nov. 11 and Paul Quinn on Nov. 28.
Following the Pepperdine matchup, the Bearkats begin a demanding stretch away from home, traveling to Illinois on Nov. 13, Wyoming on Nov. 17, Boise State on Nov. 20 and Washington State on Nov. 24.
Sam Houston continues its non-conference schedule in December with road games at Rice on Dec. 4, Nevada on Dec. 12, Omaha on Dec. 15 and Utah on Dec. 19. The Bearkats will also face Denver at a neutral site in Kansas City, Missouri, on Dec. 9 before returning to Huntsville to close the month against Our Lady of the Lake on Dec. 27.
The Bearkats open Conference USA play at home on Dec. 31 against Missouri State, followed by a Jan. 2 home matchup with FIU.
Sam Houston then begins a challenging January road swing, traveling to Middle Tennessee on Jan. 7 and Western Kentucky on Jan. 9. The Bearkats return home for contests against Kennesaw State on Jan. 14 and Jax State on Jan. 16 before heading back on the road to face New Mexico State on Jan. 23, Liberty on Jan. 28 and Delaware on Jan. 30.
The Bearkats open February with a pair of home games against Western Kentucky on Feb. 4 and Middle Tennessee on Feb. 6. Sam Houston then travels to Jax State on Feb. 11 and Kennesaw State on Feb. 13 before returning to Johnson Coliseum for home games against New Mexico State on Feb. 20, Delaware on Feb. 25 and Liberty on Feb. 27.
The regular season concludes on the road with games at FIU on March 4 and Missouri State on March 6.
The 2027 Conference USA Championships will follow March 9-13 in Huntsville, Alabama.
