Chanika Moses serves as the Sam Houston athletic department’s Sports Nutrition Coordinator, and is registered dietitian with the American Dietetic Association (ADA), member of the practice group Sports and Cardiovascular Nutritionists (SCAN).
She conducts nutrition counseling, grocery shopping tours, cooking demonstrations and develop meal plans for optimal health and performance for Sam Houston student-athletes. Additionally, she supplies and maintains the supply of extra supplements and snacks that the student-athletes rely on daily across the various team facilities.
Moses graduated from Houston with a bachelor’s degree in Human Nutrition and Foods and completed the Coordinated Masters and Dietetic Internship Program emphases in Nutrition, minor in Health from Sam Houston in 2004.
She is also pursuing a master’s degree in Health Informatics from Grand Canyon.
Moses comes to SHSU after previously serving as Resident Dietitian of Dining Services at Texas A&M where her main focus was to assist students who had food allergies and special diets.
Moses was born and raised in Texas and currently lives in College Station.
She is married to Barry Smith and the pair has 3 boys: Austen, Roman and Jordan.
